Sunstone Management Inc.’s managing editor, Harry Saltzgaver, recently took first place for columns in the annual California News Publishers Association’s Better Newspapers Contest.
Saltzgaver joined Sunstone on March 1, 2023, after 31 years as the executive editor of the Grunion Gazette, the dominant weekly newspaper in Long Beach, Calif. He has continued to write his weekly column, A Pinch of Salt, since that time for both the Grunion and the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the daily newspaper there.
Saltzgaver and the Grunion have won multiple awards in the CNPA contest over the years, and he has consistently finished in the top four for best column. It competes in the large weekly newspaper category, the largest in the contest.
