Dear Fairmont Breakers Friends,
That was exciting, wasn’t it? From Thursday, Nov. 19, through Sunday, Nov. 22, there was something amazing happening at the Fairmont Breakers every day and night.
Activities have slowed a bit as the amazing Fairmont crew gets to settle into a sort of routine. Knowing that crew as I do, led by General Manager Mark Steenge, perfection is the goal – and they’ll get there soon.
As you know if you managed to visit, the first impressions were universally positive. I thought I’d share with you a few of the published comments.
From NBC4 Los Angeles:
“Nov. 19, 2024 marks the start of a new era for the storied building, which still handsomely commands the local skyline: Meet the Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, the newest member of the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Family.
“The Sky Room has returned, sweet news, along with a luxury spa, a rooftop bar called Halo, a cozy lobby bar dubbed La Sala, and the new Nettuno, a restaurant that will offer ‘a seasonal menu inspired by authentic Italian home-cooked meals.’”
From Los Angeles Magazine:
“A memory wall filled with mementos from its many years serving Long Beach is placed right outside the Sky Room’s entrance as a nod to the past and Chef Max Pfeiffer, a Long Beach State graduate, hopes to incorporate the traditions of the fine dining establishment while also elevating the menu. Classic dishes like beef Wellington and flambéed desserts pay homage to its storied fine dining experience and original table side service, only with added new elegance.
“Originally built on the edge of the beach, the place got its name as a reference to the breaking waves at its perimeter. The building currently sits on a bluff that has easy access to the Long Beach Convention Center, offering guests a prime seat to events there, such as the upcoming Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 4.”
From MeetingsNet:
“Among the more than 80 hotels in the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts portfolio, many are true landmark properties—think, for example, of the Fairmont San Francisco at the top of Nob Hill, The Plaza in New York City, or the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. With the mid-November opening of the Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, the Accor luxury brand aims to add another classic to its collection.”
And finally, from Omer Acar, the CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Boutique Hotelier:
“With the highly anticipated debut of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not just bringing a piece of history back to life, but together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach.
“At the heart of who we are at Fairmont, we are at the social epicenter of the destination, celebrating life’s most momentous occasions together. Since signing this project, we have heard so many meaningful stories about the significant role this hotel has played in the lives of those who grew up in and around Long Beach, and those who visited the hotel in its prime. It is our distinct honor to now be a part of those special stories, and to carry them forward.”
Pretty impressive stuff. I’ll see you at the Fairmont Breakers soon!
