February is the shortest month of the year, but it has been an auspicious one for Sunstone.
As we entered the Year of the Snake, work accelerated on the reorganization of Sunstone Management, creating the Sunstone Investment Group LLC, a new Sunstone Investment Group Holding Company and the Sunstone Cities LLC. We continue to work on standing up these new entities, with the goal of formal reorganization being completed by the beginning of second quarter.
Fairmont Breakers
The Fairmont Breakers Long Beach hosted a public party/grand opening on Feb. 20, opening its doors to the public with a history-based tour of the refurbished eateries, bars and public spaces. The night offered up a century of history along with classic food and drink.
Sunstone was there in force, including Jasmine Jiang (Senior VP of Investment Operations), Clark Hsu (Investor Relations Manager), Harry Saltzgaver (Managing Editor), myself and my lovely wife Laura. We plan to continue our close relationship with property owners Pacific6 and the John Molina and Todd Lemmis, the partners most active in the property.
Sunstone Cities
Business at Sunstone Cities continues to pick up speed, with more consulting contracts and proposals. The relatively new Public Infrastructure Financing Solutions (PIFS) program has been fleshed out, with a one-pager and white papers.
Jayro Sandoval and Ryan Phong are lining up meetings this week, and will be attending conferences, including the CHA Rural Healthcare Symposium. Sunstone Cities also is advising the healthcare optimization company Opt Health to connect with law enforcement, fire departments and veterans to consider Opt Health’s in-depth health analysis and treatment.
This is in addition to economic development consulting contracts with area municipalities. And Sunstone Cities hosted a meet and greet in February for the city officials and graduate students participating in the Sunstone Economic Development Challenge @ USC Price for 2024-25.
