Who Pays the Bills in Your Home?

Welcome back to the Sunstone Way.

Here’s a question for you. Who handles sending out the Christmas cards in your house?

Okay, who does the grocery shopping? Who pays the bills? Who handles the budget?

Sorry if those questions are a little too personal. (For the record, I share those chores with my wife, Laura.) But the point is, if someone doesn’t handle those jobs, the household doesn’t function well, if at all.

The same is true for the Sunstone Investment Group. Since Sunstone was founded more than a decade ago, we have had departments handling pieces of the administrative chores, if you will.

Today, we have a bit of a new approach. With our reorganization, we have created an entity called Sunstone Investment Management Services, LLC. Let me introduce you.

Accounting and Finance

At Sunstone, our finance department is responsible for more than most. Senior Accounting Manager Michelle Cahill, Staff Accountant Justin Pham and Fellow Coelle Ofalla-Hernando handle the money flow for our affiliates – Sunstone Advisors LLC and Sunstone Cities LLC. That means making payments to vendors, investors and the companies Sunstone supports with venture capital.

It also means collecting payments from customers for consulting and other services, new investors and more. Then there are the required audits – the finance team prepares all the paperwork necessary to support audit and reporting processes for Sunstone.

Every good business must have good financial management. We believe our accounting and finance team provides just that!

Marketing & Communications

Affectionately called MarComm, this department develops almost everything the public sees regarding Sunstone – events, social media, brochures, reports, press releases, newsletters and more.

Jennifer Huang is the Marketing & Communications Manager, and she communicates with all branches of the Sunstone family. Her team – marketing associates Cindy Lin and Julie Ta, with Fellow Matthew Nguyen – organizes events at the Sunstone Stage and Sunstone’s involvement in off-campus activities.

They also have expertise in preparing social media posts, video clips, and all that high tech communicating we all count on now. Check out their work on LinkedInInstagram and YouTube

Graphic expertise in the department means professional brochures explaining all the Sunstone services and easy-to-understand reports and newsletters for Sunstone partners. Harry Saltzgaver, our managing editor, provides the long form case studies, releases and blogs that explain what we do.

And here’s a little secret I’d like to share with you. MarComm can do many of these things for you too – for a price, of course!

Executive Administration

While my role has me stretched across all of the Sunstone entities, the CEO office really resides in Sunstone Investment Management Services. I like being part of “Services,” because I try to facilitate for everyone to make their jobs easier.

The real key to Executive Administration is Jessica Dela Rosa, our Administrative and Finance Officer. In addition to keeping track of me, Jessica functions as our Human Resources officer, payroll controller and general manager. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also the secretary for the executive board.

Sunstone works hard to stay on the leading edge of technology, and that’s the domain of Mark Jacoub, our senior business systems analyst. He also touches all segments of the Sunstone operation, with solutions to sometimes complex problems in the way of getting things done.

Last but certainly not least is administrative assistant Sarah Cahill, who handles all of the office logistics. She makes sure we have the tools we need to do our jobs, and the little extras that make our headquarters office feel like home.

Making it Work

We try to make our office feel like home because we are a family – the Sunstone family. Every person working in Sunstone Investment Management Services has a part in making that family successful.

It wouldn’t happen without them. And that’s the Sunstone Way.

Remember, always be a Sunstone!
